Mayor of Jackson installs solar water heating system on her own home 

JACKSON, CA October 23, 2008 - Energy conservation has always been important to the town of Jackson’s Mayor Rosalie Escamilla. So when she learned of a local solar water heating dealer in the area, she decided to invest in one and install it on her own home. 

“We wanted to do our part to conscious of our energy use,” says Mayor Escamilla. Installing a solar water heating system does just that as it reduces C02 emissions of an average home by 30% or more.  

Mayor Escamilla purchased a Heliodyne solar hot water packaged system from Amador Solar which was then installed in her house within a matter of days. Once installed, a solar water heating system requires very little maintenance as the entire system is self automated. This type of system can be expected to last 25 years or more.  

Using the sun to heat a home’s water supply has been in use since the late 1800’s. Due to rising energy costs and concerns for global warming, the demand for alternative forms of energy, such as solar hot water, has increased substantially in recent years. Solar water heating as an alternative energy solution is oftenimprove the environment and be  overlooked by the more popular form of solar energy, solar photovoltaic or PV for short. The cost for purchasing and installing a solar water heating system is further reduced by a Federal tax of credit of 30% up to $2,000 of the system cost. The available tax credit provided an additional incentive for the Mayor.
